Cheryl Heiks is an experienced government relations representative formerly with AlfordHamilton Associates working with state, local, and federal government elected officials and regulatory bodies with a specialization in funding and government contract advocacy.
Prior to joining AlfordHamilton, as Director of Marketing and Communications with LLuminari and BeWell.com, Cheryl’s responsibilities provided experience with national and international media and non-profit as well as for-profit organizations primarily in the health industry. During her career working with Governor Tom Carper, Cheryl worked as the Press Information Officer for the Delaware Department of Labor and later as the Technology Program Manager for the Delaware Economic Development Office. While at the Economic Development Office, her responsibilities included development of public policy, recruiting and retention of technology related businesses to the state, and community affairs. Cheryl was selected for the Delaware Management Fellow Program and extended her experience working with the state Budget Office.
After leaving state service, Cheryl served as Director of Marketing and Development for Delaware Curative Workshop with responsibility for managing the promotion of their six rehabilitation centers and the revitalization of the development and fund-raising initiatives.
A native Delawarean, Cheryl is an honors graduate from the University of Delaware 1981.
Cheryl is an active community volunteer having served on the board for the Junior League of Wilmington, the Board of Directors for the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce and the Alumni Board of Directors of the University of Delaware. She is currently on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Delaware Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and on the board of the Delaware Greenways.
